Let's celebrate POETRY!  April is National Poetry Month, a world-wide literary event, established by the National Academy of American Poets in 1996. Read about National Poetry Month at www.Poets.org: About the Celebration.

This year's poster, shown below, can be ordered for free here and downloaded as an interactive pdf, with each image linked to a poem, here. (The PDF version is also linked from the poster image below.)

A related lesson plan offers classroom activities around the poster and poems, along with additional ways to engage your students with National Poetry Month. For more classroom activities, teachers sign up for the Teach This Poem a weekly series and students (K-12) can participate in the Dear Poet Project.

I'll be putting up a special series of poetry links, ideas, and poems throughout April, so I hope you'll join me as part of your National Poetry Month celebration!
