Love Poems / by Linda Eve Diamond

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

To celebrate, here are a few favorite love poems from around the Poetverse for my Valentine—and for Valentines everywhere...

TRUE LOVE by Wislawa Szymborska (included in Poems New and Collected)

SO SPECIAL by Nanci Lee Woody (published by Your Daily Poem)
For Valentines who do these special things ever single day (and for Valentines like mine, who do all of this and cards, too)

HAVING A COKE WITH YOU by Frank O'Hara (Included in this Selected Poems collection)
An extraordinary meditation on a lover in a so-called ordinary moment

UNENDING LOVE by Rabindranath Tagore (Included in this Selected Poems collection)
Famous for being Audrey Hepburn's favorite poem ~ (You can find her friend, Gregory Peck, reading it in her memory here.)

[i carry your heart with me] by E. E. Cummings (included in Complete Poems)
Also illustrated and published as a children's book here: I Carry Your Heart with Me.

HOW DO I LOVE YOU? by Mary Oliver (from Felicity)
A poem to inspire interpretive readings and poetic expressions!  ;)

CREATIVE POETRY REVIEW by JEFF NOVICK   :)

CREATIVE POETRY REVIEW by JEFF NOVICK   :)

My husband, Jeff Novick, and I would also like to share some love poems that have been part of our story.

When we met, I gave Jeff a copy of my first poetry collection, The Human Experience. In response to two poems, (TWO POETS and YOU AND ME), he sent a photo with the subject line: "I melted." I melted, too.

This eventually led to the poems below, AN ENGAGING PROPOSAL  and then THE RINGS and THE GIFT OF AN INFINITE KISS, all of which became part of the second collection, The Beauty of Listening (dedicated, of course, to Jeff).   :)

Wishing all Valentines out there a day of pure poetry!
